Dearest Reader,
Summer has arrived and it is hot. As we bid farewell to April and welcome May, I wish to find familiar comfort in the coolness of dots and jovial motifs of Bhil art. This coming month we will find ourselves at many crossroads- from electing our next government to re evaluating our electrical bills. So I would advise you to make an icy lemonade like me, take a beat, and enjoy the disarray of India’s folk art.
Bridge Bharat is a curated collection of Indian legacy arts and antiquities. We empower both the art connoisseur and the novice buyer to discover, learn, and acquire art from some of India’s finest generational artists.

Throughout the ages, Bhil art, hailing from the western Indian heartland, has captivated audiences with its vibrant energy and symbolic narratives centering on the Indian Pastoral. Master artists like Bhuri Bai and Lado Bai have become synonymous with the style, conveying a dizzying sense of beauty and joie de vivre with their hand-painted creations, each one bursting with life through intricate dot work, bold geometric patterns, and a mesmerizing interplay of colors. But what happens when this ancient art form collides with the clean lines and minimalist aesthetics of modern architecture?

I would like to end this letter with an introduction. This time I’d like to introduce Namrata Dubey, our Head of Artist Management and Onboarding. Very few people can do what she does at Bridge Bharat- build relationships. My foundational understanding of Bridge Bharat was that we prioritize our artists- their lives, stories, and legacy. And within a few months, I understood that we managed to achieve that due to Namrata's unwavering kindness and ethics. The world is far too jaded and at times harsh, but sometimes one comes across a human being like Namrata who exudes optimism and helps us understand that legacy is built on the rocks of ethics, kindness, and understanding.
With hopes of opening dialogues and bringing beauty and magic of art into your day I would like to end my letter to you, my dear reader, with love and compassion. And I believe that is our ethos at Bridge Bharat.
I will await your response.
Love.
Avali
