The Painting

A magnificent tree spreads its wide canopy across a deep black background, its dense teal and green foliage dotted with delicate pastel flowers and golden birds perched throughout the branches. Below, a gathering of beautifully patterned animals — pink elephants, a lavender bull, and a blue deer — stand in peaceful harmony around the trunk. Every creature is covered in intricate geometric dotwork, glowing with colour and life. A joyful and abundant vision of the natural world, rendered in the vibrant dotwork tradition of Bhil art.

The Artform

Bhil art, a captivating tribal art form from central India, boasts a rich history deeply connected to the Bhil people's way of life. Traditionally adorning mud walls and shrines, these paintings expressed their beliefs and connection to nature through a simple style. Bold outlines, flat perspectives, and a limited palette of natural colors depict animals, symbolic of the natural world, and scenes from daily life or mythology. The use of dots, in vibrant colors distinct from Gond art, adds texture and depth to these narratives, offering a glimpse into Bhil traditions and customs. In recent times, Bhil art has expanded beyond walls, finding expression on cloth, paper, and other surfaces, captivating a wider audience and preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Bhil people.

For artworks that are made to order, the time to prepare each piece differs. Our team will inform you about the preparation time. You will receive updates on the behind-the-scenes prep every 4-5 days- we want you to be a part of the creation process. A ready item will be dispatched within 24 hours of placing the order. The item will be delivered 7-10 days after the product is dispatched. The artwork price is exclusive of shipping charges and insurance. Shipping charges will differ depending on the order size, weight and delivery location. You will be able to calculate shipping charges at checkout. The artwork price is inclusive of 12% GST In the event that the product is rejected by our quality check team, you will be informed about the change of delivery date.
