The Painting

Songbirds at Twilight brings together a stylised female figure and colourful birds in a softly patterned composition. The delicate birds, floral details and muted pink and blue tones create a gentle narrative of companionship between people and nature. Vikalp Durga’s expressive eyes and simplified forms give the work its distinctive character, while the ornamental border adds depth and rhythm. The artwork captures a quiet, poetic moment filled with warmth and natural beauty.

The Artform

Contemporary Figurative Art uses recognisable human forms while allowing artists to reinterpret them through stylisation, symbolism, colour and pattern. Rather than focusing on realistic representation, contemporary figurative works often explore mood, identity and emotion through distinctive visual languages. Vikalp Durga’s practice combines stylised figures, expressive eyes, botanical motifs and delicate patterning to create works that feel both whimsical and contemplative.
